Fox has tapped a super team of young actors to be bombarded with cosmic rays for the upcoming “Fantastic Four” reboot.
Actors Miles Teller (the body-stretching Mr. Fantastic), Kate Mara (the aptly named Invisible Woman), Michael B. Jordan (the Human Torch) and Jamie Bell (he super strong rock pile known as The Thing) have closed deals or are circling the parts for the latest movie adaptation of Marvel’s famous superhero team, Variety reported.
A source close to production, however, told the Daily News that the fabulous foursome are not yet officially attached. Jordan and Mara later confirmed their casting on their Twitter feeds.
The movie would reunite Jordan, who takes over the role from go-to superhero Chris Evans, with director Josh Trank, who directed the actor in the 2012 super hero flick, “Chronicle.”
The new-look Fantastic Four still have big blue boots to fill: despite tepid responses from critics, the previous two Fantastic Four movies – starring Evans, Jessica Alba, Ioan Gruffudd and Michael Chiklis – did gross $660 million worldwide at the box office.
Once news broke it didn’t take long for some disgruntled fans to yell, “It’s Clobbering Time,” with a vehemence not seen since Ben Affleck was cast as Batman in the “Man of Steel” sequel.
